Lighting the Way: DHRM’s Transformative Bible Campaign in Uganda

Discovery: A Surprising Shortage of Bibles

About three years ago, while facilitating Bible studies and workshops in Uganda,

DHRM encountered a sobering reality. During a routine teaching session, it

became clear that less than 5% of attendees actually owned a Bible. For many,

the Word of God was shared only through spoken messages, with few having

the opportunity to read, reflect, and study Scripture personally. This revelation

deeply moved the DHRM team and called for urgent action.

Launching the ‘Bibles for Believers’

Motivated by compassion and the pressing need, Bro. Keenan Dupree launched

the ‘Bibles for Believers’ campaign. The vision was simple, yet profound: ensure

that every believer in Uganda could own a personal copy of the Bible, especially

in their local language. The campaign began with earnest prayers, planning, and

outreach to donors and supporters who shared the ministry’s concern.

First Milestone: Bringing Bibles to Kitgum

The campaign’s first major achievement was the delivery of 100 Bibles, printed

in the Acholi language, to a pastor in Kitgum, Northern Uganda. These Bibles

were distributed to eager hands and open hearts. The impact was immediate

and powerful. Recipients shared testimonies of transformation—lives changed,

spiritual healing, and deliverance experienced through the personal study of

God’s Word. Many who received a Bible for the first time found new meaning

and purpose, with several joining Christian churches as a result.

Expansion: Reaching Tongolo’s Teachers

As the campaign gained momentum, DHRM expanded its outreach to

Tongolo, in Southern Uganda. Here, the need was especially urgent. We

learned this Christian school was the only school in a Muslim community.

The building of this school will serve two purposes: reaching the muslims

with the gospel of Jesus Christ why educating their children. At this

Christian school, we found only one Bible was available for all the teachers.

Recognizing the importance of empowering educators, we provided Bibles

so that each teacher could have a copy for personal devotion and teaching

and their students. This step not only supported the spiritual growth of

teachers but also strengthened the Christian foundation, also the Muslim

community.
